The ‘Socatra’ is a robust and versatile Line & Hose Handling boat and is one of three sister vessels designed to operate in an LNG terminal in the Yemen. One of the Wave Handler class she is fitted with twin Cummins 355 bhp engines and Ultrajet 305 HT (High Thrust) waterjets giving her a top speed of around 28 knots and an exceptional bollard pull for a waterjet boat of around 3 tonnes. She has a fully enclosed wheel house and internally she has seating for six passengers. She has a 2 tonne hydraulic capstan and a tow post fitted with an on-load quick release hook as well as a man overboard recovery davit and an aft dive platform with dive ladder. She is fitted with a complete water spray deluge system for protection in the event of a fire and she also carries a removable pilot boarding platform since part of her duties will be in pilot operations for the LNG tankers. She is outfitted with a comprehensive electronics suite and the total package makes her an extremely capable boat.
